Oculus and Observatory (2024)
I strongly believe that artists make what they need. This work is wonder and colour.
These works explore the possibility of capturing a modal moment in time. Activated by light and the movement of the viewer, the pieces ask the viewer to simply believe. The transparency of the pieces serves as a portal between the gallery space and the outside world creating the opportunity for a new experience of the world.
I am looking for what we have in common: the innately human. Egalitarian at its heart, my work invites the viewer to connect with the wonder of material, the manipulation of light, the illusion of magic - the things we share.
Duality (2025 current)
These pieces explore a contradiction between form and function. They suggest a practical use which is at odds with the material and colour. This prompts us to pause and appreciate the wonder of the material - the internal reflections and differing density of colour. I am interested in exploring how we often assess objects in terms of their function, with less value placed on wonder, belief and magic.
Artefact (2023)
This work was built to offer an unexpected moment of joy in a taken-for-granted functional space. It playfully explores a repeating pattern whilst allowing the material to interrupt this by taking on its own form.
Proof of Life (2022)
This piece explores repeated patterns and connections. It was completed over a month during a residency ay S1 in Sheffield.
